Microcrystalline waxes consist of microcrystals mostly irregular in structure and contain high percentage of branched molecules, a property which gives them more elasticity and kneadibility relative to paraffin waxes and generally they have high melting points.

  These properties make them useful in varous industries such as hot melt adhesives, PVC production, explosives,  cosmetics,  inks, paints,  rodent bait carrier,  paper and packaging industry, and food additive, especially in gumbase production.

  The formulation of microcrystalline waxes is of great importance for the stability and consistency of gum base.
