Oxidized Polyethylene Wax
Oxidized polyethylene wax is obtained by oxidation of polyethylene wax.
Oxidized polyethylene wax molecules have polar groups like carbonyl groups and hydroxyl groups, a property which increases the compatibility with fillers, pigments, and polar resins. Wettability and dispersibility of oxidized polyethylene wax are also better than polyethylene wax. OPE is a low adhesive and hard polymer which has good chemical and heat stability, high softening point and also good lubricant effect.
Oxidized polyethylene waxes are used as lubricants in the processing of plastics , used in the field of hot melt road marking material, act as dispersant for masterbatches, pigment, carbon black, can be used as additive for various types of waxes like shoeshine, floor wax, car wax etc.
Oxidized polyethylene waxes can also be emulsified in water. Emulsions are used in finishing of textiles to get a smooth surface which facilitates further production steps.
